RE: 732-LOS Files

Direct Loan Bulletin (DLB) 98-14 provided updated guidance for
schools regarding Program Year Closeout for 95-96 and 96-97
Direct Loans. The bulletin also provided information on the
new 732-LOS files that were sent to schools on 4/24/98 to assist
in the close-out process. These files were described in DLB 98-14:

"The message class for the 732-LOS Summary File is DIS497OP
and the message class for the 732-LOS Detail File is DIS597OP.
Schools needing assistance with importing these message classes,
should contact CPS Direct Loan Customer Service at 800/330-5947,
option 3."

These files are not EDExpress files or reports so importing them
to EDExpress will not provide you with a useable report. The
files were sent as two ASCII text files. The files are of the
"comma delimited" type. The file formats were provided in
DLB-98-14. The school can open these files in Word, Excel, Access
or some type of similar software using the file formats in the bulletin.
This information can be used to find any discrepancies between the
school's internal data and the LOC.
