PublicationDate: 3/13/97
Summary: 1997/98 Processing Status Update #13
Author: OPE - Office of the Assistant Secretary for OPE

Date : March 13, 1997
TO : Financial Aid Administrators
FROM : Betsy Hicks
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Student Financial Aid Programs
SUBJECT: 1997-98 Processing Status: Update # 13

This is the 13th message in my series of reports on the status of 1997-98 application
processing. A week ago we received our 2 millionth 1997-98 application and as of this
week the CPS has computed over two million applications. Our receipts during the past
two weeks were at their highest for this processing cycle. Both MDEs are temporarily
out of their contractual turnaround time for some of the forms, however, the vast
majority are being processed without delay and the remaining few are being processed
within an additional two or three work days. We are managing the work load and are
pleased with our overall 1997-98 processing.
