This is the 16th message in my series of reports on the status of 1997-98 application
processing. I am happy to report that we have processed more than 3.8 million
applications for the 1997/98 processing cycle. Both MDEs are within contractual
turnaround times for both the 1996-97 and 1997-98 processing cycles.
