Subject: 1997-98 Cycle Submission Deadlines

The deadline for submitting 1997-98 electronic applications is midnight central time June
30, 1998. The deadline for submitting electronic corrections/duplicates is midnight
central time August 14, 1998.

IMPORTANT: Your transmission must be "completed" and "accepted" by midnight to
meet the deadline. If your transmission is started before midnight on June 30 but is not
completed until after midnight on July 1 you will miss the deadline.

FAFSA on the Web and FAFSA Express applications must also be completely
transmitted by midnight June 30, 1998.

The FAFSA on the Web site will be unavailable for 24 hours after June 30 for
maintenance and to shut down the 1997-98 cycle. It will go down at 12:01am on July 1
and be back in service no later than midnight July 2.

Electronic data that is submitted after the deadline will be rejected. The U.S. Department
of Education will make no exceptions to these deadlines.
