Summary: This letter announces the launch of Federal Student Aid’s new training Web site, Federal Student Aid E-Training. Located at http://fsatraining.info, the new training resource offers interactive online courses and access to archived training modules.
Dear Colleague:
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Department of Education's (the Department's) Federal Student Aid E-Training Web site, a new training resource for the financial aid community. Federal Student Aid E-Training, located at http://fsatraining.info, is a Web-based training delivery platform providing a variety of training services, including interactive online courses and access to archived training modules. In the future, Federal Student Aid E-Training will host live webinars and provide a registration system for other instructor-led training events sponsored by the Department.
Virtual Tour
We recommend first-time users of the site go to http://fsatraining.info and take the virtual tour, a link to which is located in the left-hand column on the home page. The brief, three-minute video highlights the site's main menu bars and provides helpful navigation tips.
Create User Account
To further explore the site and online course offerings, a user must create a user account. In the right-hand column on the home page, click on "Create new account" and follow the instructions to create a username and password. By creating a user account, a user will be able to access all training available on the site as well as submit feedback to Federal Student Aid on the training programs.
Online Training
The current library of online training available on the Federal Student Aid E-Training Web site includes four introductory training videos under the menu item “Intro to Federal Student Aid.” Seven general student eligibility modules are also available under the menu item “Training by Topics.” The training courses are self-paced and are generally offered in short, 8-20 minute training segments.
Later this month, we will announce the availability of the first EDExpress Online Training for 2013-2014 module on Federal Student Aid E-Training, and in the fall we will offer the newly updated FSA COACH, an introductory Web-based tutorial on federal student aid administration.
We will continue to expand our course offerings on the site and will notify the community through forthcoming training announcements posted to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site.
Compatible Browsers
The Federal Student Aid E-Training Web site is compatible with the following Internet browsers:
Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8
Firefox 3.6
Chrome 10
Safari 5.0.x
We encourage you to take the virtual tour, create a user account, and explore the training resources available on Federal Student Aid E-Training. If you have questions about the site, please contact Scot Davisson at scot.davisson@ed.gov.
Sincerely,
Jana Hernandes
