Summary: This letter announces a series of instructor-led webinars offered this fall by Federal Student Aid that will provide information on the Campus-Based programs, R2T4 calculations in clock-hour withdrawal situations, R2T4 calculations for modules, and clock-hour program requirements

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce a four-day webinar series that will offer instructor-led, online training on the Campus-Based programs, Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) calculations in clock-hour withdrawal situations, R2T4 calculations for modules, and clock-hour program requirements. Each webinar is suitable for financial aid and business office staff with some familiarity with the administration of the Title IV federal student aid programs.

We will present this information during four 90-minute webinar sessions, offered successively over a four day period. Participants may register for one or more of the webinars. We will offer the four-day series twice, to provide ample opportunity for those interested in attending.

The webinar series includes the following four modules:

The module “Campus-Based Issues” focuses on awarding, disbursing, and reporting for the Campus-Based programs. We will share helpful tips and reminders to assist schools successfully administer the Federal Perkins Loan Program, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) Program, and Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program. This webinar will be offered:

  • Monday, October 1, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. (ET)

  • Monday, October 15, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. (ET)

The module “R2T4 for Clock Hours” covers R2T4 issues for clock-hour programs. The session will provide a high-level overview of R2T4 concepts and specific calculation requirements, and will include case studies that review student withdrawal scenarios in a clock-hour setting. This webinar will be offered:

  • Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. (ET)

  • Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. (ET)

The module “R2T4 for Modules” provides information on R2T4 calculation requirements for students withdrawing from modules and includes module-specific case studies. This webinar will be offered:

  • Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. (ET)

  • Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. (ET)

The module “Clock-Hour Issues” explores administering the Title IV federal student aid programs in a clock-hour environment. Requirements and issues specific to clock-hour programs will be discussed, including defining payment periods and loan periods, determining prior-year charges, and performing Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant) calculations. This webinar will be offered:

  • Thursday, October 4, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. (ET)

  • Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. (ET)

A final module “Q & A Session” will be added to the series at a later date. The session will provide an opportunity to address questions submitted by training participants during the webinar series as well as an open question and answer period with staff from Federal Student Aid's Policy Liaison and Implementation office. Advance registration is required for this training and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To allow for as many participants as possible, we strongly encourage groups to view the webinar from a single location if accommodations allow. If viewing as a group, only one person from the group needs to register.

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. Trainees may sign in and access the training materials one hour prior to the start of each webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.
