Subject: Live Internet Webinar – Gainful Employment Data Corrections
Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's instructor-led, online training session that provides information on correcting gainful employment data that had been submitted to NSLDS by institutions.
Dear Colleague:
We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. (ET) we will be presenting the fifth in a series of webinars designed to provide institutions that participate in the Federal student assistance programs authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, with information on the regulatory requirements related to Title IV-eligible educational programs that lead to gainful employment in a recognized occupation (GE Programs).
This webinar will provide information on correcting gainful employment data that institutions had reported to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). We will discuss how to resolve reporting errors online using the NSLDS Professional Access Web site, as well as how to make batch corrections. Additionally, we will review and analyze the NSLDS gainful employment Error/Acknowledgement file, discuss when gainful employment records should be deactivated, and describe how to avoid making common errors when submitting gainful employment data. Future enhancements to the gainful employment reporting process will also be discussed.
Note: On December 16, 2011, we posted Gainful Employment Electronic Announcement #30 to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site. The electronic announcement reminds institutions of the importance of correcting any gainful employment data that the institution had submitted or attempted to submit. It also notes that any corrections to information for award years 2006-2007, 2007-2008, and 2008-2009 must be submitted to NSLDS no later than January 20, 2012.
Federal Student Aid staff will present this webinar in a 90-minute session on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. (ET).

To allow for as many participants as possible, we strongly encourage groups to view the webinar from a single location if accommodations allow. Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information related to the training.
PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.
