Subject: Live Internet Webinar - Direct Loan Reports

Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's instructor-led, online training session on Direct Loan reports, including reports on loan origination, disbursement, Master Promissory Note (MPN) management, entrance and exit counseling, and reconciliation. This webinar updates one session from the previously-offered Direct Loan Webinar Training Suite.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce instructor-led, online training that will provide information on reports that are available to assist schools in the management and administration of the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program. We will cover how schools receive or retrieve the reports as well as how they can be used to improve Direct Loan processing, reduce errors, resolve issues, and simplify reconciliation and closeout. This training is intended for financial aid and business office staff with Direct Loan responsibilities.

Note: This session was offered in 2010 as part of the Direct Loan Webinar Training Suite. The session has now been updated and expanded to provide current information about Direct Loan reports. In the coming months we will offer additional Direct Loan webinars to further update the training series. Federal Student Aid staff will present this information in a one-hour session offered on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. (ET).

Advance registration is required for this training and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To allow for as many participants as possible, we strongly encourage groups to view the webinar from a single location if accommodations allow. If viewing as a group, only one person from the group needs to register.

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.
