Subject: Live Internet Webinar – Adding a New Gainful Employment Program

Summary: This letter announces the third in a series of webinars presented by Federal Student Aid on the regulatory requirements for institutions that offer educational programs that prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation. This webinar will describe the notification and approval process for new GE Programs.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce the third in a series of webinars designed to provide institutions that participate in the Federal student assistance programs authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, with information on new regulatory requirements related to Title IV-eligible educational programs that lead to gainful employment in a recognized occupation (GE Programs). This third webinar will provide information related to the notification and approval process for new GE Programs, including when notification is required and when approval is required. The Notice of Intent to Offer an Educational Program, most recently provided in Gainful Employment Electronic Announcement #16 – Updated Procedures for Reporting New Educational Programs That Prepare Students for Gainful Employment in a Recognized Occupation, will also be discussed.

Note: A subsequent webinar in this series will provide updated technical information on the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) gainful employment reporting process. Monitor the IFAP Web site for a training announcement about this upcoming webinar.

Federal Student Aid staff will present this webinar in a 90-minute session offered on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. (ET).
