Subject: Live Internet Webinars - Regulatory Update 2011

Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid’s contingency plan for participants affected by the cancellation of the Regulatory Update 2011 training workshops, due to the potential government shutdown. A four-day webinar series in May 2011 will offer participants an experience similar to the in-person training workshops.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce our contingency plan for participants affected by the cancellation of the April 11-12, 2011 Regulatory Update 2011 training workshops, due to the potential government shutdown. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in this training, we will offer a series of instructor-led, online training sessions designed to provide participants with information equivalent to the two-day in-person training workshops.

While the webinar series is primarily for those affected by the cancellation of the April 11-12 sessions, anyone who was not able to attend an in-person workshop, or who wishes to hear the information again, may register for the online sessions.

Note: This webinar series is being offered in addition to the in-person Regulatory Update 2011 training workshops, which continue through the end of the month. We encourage everyone who is currently registered for the remaining April sessions to attend the in-person workshops.

The online training consists of six webinar modules, presented over a four-day period from May 3-6, 2011 or May 10-13, 2011. We encourage trainees to register for the modules that best fit their needs.

The online training sessions will cover the following topics at the stated day and time:

  • Module 1, “Program Integrity Final Regulations” will be offered on Tuesday, May 3 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. (ET) and Wednesday, May 11 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. (ET).

  • Module 2, “Pell Grant” will be offered on Wednesday, May 4 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. (ET) and Tuesday, May 10 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. (ET).

  • Module 3, “Consumer Information” and Module 4, “Direct Loan” will be offered on Thursday, May 5 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. (ET) and Friday, May 13 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. (ET).

  • Module 5, “NSLDS Exit Counseling and Loan Servicing” and Module 6, “2011-2012 Application Processing” will be offered on Friday, May 6 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. (ET) and Thursday, May 12 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. (ET).
