Subject: Training Recording - Direct Loan Reconciliation

Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's recorded training session that provides a review of monthly Direct Loan reconciliation in an interactive format.

Note: This Dear Colleague Letter was updated on July 6, 2011 by replacing the previous URL for the Participant’s Guide with its current URL.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce the availability of a recorded training session that offers an interactive opportunity to learn more about the monthly reconciliation process for the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program. This 70 minute training session is intended for financial aid and business office personnel who are responsible for reconciling and funding Direct Loans.

In Dear Colleague Letter ANN-10-37, we announced the availability of a recorded webinar on Direct Loan reconciliation, offered as part of the Direct Loan Webinar Training Suite. The primary difference between the recorded webinar announced in ANN-10-37 and the training recording offered at the link below is the interactive nature of this training. Participants will explore the process of monthly reconciliation using a Participant's Guide, which will be used as a reference throughout the training and is a valuable resource for future use.

Using the Participant's Guide, the recorded training session will review how to identify and avoid common cash and disbursement discrepancies, as well as highlight reports, tools, and resources that are available to assist schools with timely reconciliation. Participants will also work through a case study to further explore each step in the monthly Direct Loan reconciliation process.

No registration is required to view the recorded training session. To view the session, click on this link:
