Subject: Live Internet Webinar - Using EDExpress to Process Direct Loans

Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's instructor-led, online training session on using the EDExpress for Windows software to process Direct Loans.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce instructor-led, online training that provides detailed information about using the EDExpress for Windows software to process William D. Ford Federal Direct Loans (Direct Loans). This training, intended for financial aid office personnel who are new users of the EDExpress Direct Loan module, was first offered in May 2010. Due to high demand for this information, we are offering the webinar again in June and July 2010.

The webinar provides a complete overview of the EDExpress Direct Loan module and includes information about the following software functions and processes:

  • Setup
  • Loan Origination
  • Disbursements
  • Exporting Origination and Disbursement Records
  • Modifying Disbursement Information
  • Multiple Entry
  • Reports

Federal Student Aid staff will present this information in a 90-minute session offered on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. (ET) and once again on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. (ET).

Note: There may be a difference between a trainee's local time and Eastern Time. To determine local time and its Eastern Time zone equivalent, click on this link:

Advance registration is required for this training and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Note: Training participants should have a basic understanding of the Direct Loan Program before attending this webinar. We strongly recommend that participants first attend the Direct Loan Webinar Training Suite, particularly the session "Direct Loan Programmatic Primer." This session introduces concepts, terminology, and other information needed to understand how the Direct Loan Program works and how to manage and administer the program at a school. See Training Announcement ANN-10-23 for more information about the webinar suite.

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, and system test links.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.

We look forward to your participation in this instructor-led, online training opportunity. If you have questions about this training opportunity, please contact Virginia W. Hagins at virginia.w.hagins@ed.gov.
