Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's release of the first module of EDExpress Online Training for 2010-2011. The first module of this Web-based, self-paced training covers Direct Loan processing and also provides an overview of EDExpress and information about what is new to the software for 2010-2011.
Dear Colleague:
We are pleased to announce our release of the first module of EDExpress Online Training for 2010-2011, the Web-based training product that teaches users the basic skills needed to access and navigate the 2010-2011 EDExpress and EDconnect software. This first module covers William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) processing. It also provides an overview of EDExpress and a section describing what is new to the software for 2010-2011. The module is available on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site at http://ifap.ed.gov/edexpress/1011index.html.
New for 2010-2011: EDExpress Online Training, formerly referred to as “EDExpress Basics,” has been redesigned for 2010-2011 with a new interface and lesson structure, offering users an enhanced training experience.
This self-paced training is intended for financial aid office staff with day-to-day responsibilities that involve using the EDExpress software. By using the software in a simulated environment, users will gain an understanding of the fundamental EDExpress and EDconnect functions. As such, this training is a resource for on-the-job training and re-training in the use of EDExpress.
We will release additional EDExpress Online Training for 2010-2011 modules in the coming months.
- The second module on Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG), Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant), National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (National SMART Grant), and Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant processing is planned for release in late July 2010.
- The third module on Global functions, software set up, Packaging, and Application Processing using FAA Access to CPS Online is planned for release in mid-August 2010. Additionally, this module will include training for new users of the EDconnect data transmission software as well as updated “What’s New” information.
- A full version of the training that is compliant with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act is planned for release in mid-September 2010.
We will inform the community of the availability of these modules in forthcoming Training Announcements posted on the IFAP Web site.
We look forward to your use of EDExpress Online Training for 2010-2011. If you have questions about this Web-based training product, please contact David Bartlett at david.bartlett@ed.gov or Mark Gerhard at mark.gerhard@ed.gov.
Sincerely,
