Subject: Training Recording - Verification: A School Responsibility
Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's recorded training session on performing verification of student applicant data.
Dear Colleague:
We are pleased to announce the availability of a recorded training session that provides detailed information about performing verification of student applicant data. This one-hour training session is intended for financial aid office personnel and other staff at participating Title IV institutions who are responsible for performing verification.
The session is geared towards individuals who have a basic working knowledge of the Federal student aid programs, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Student Aid Report (SAR), and the Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR).
The recorded training session includes the following information:
Top compliance issues associated with verification
Verification requirements for the school’s policies and procedures manual
Examination of when verification is required and for which Federal student aid programs
Discussion of limiting verification to 30% of the school’s student applicant pool
FAFSA data elements that must be verified
Acceptable documentation for completing verification
Review of when corrections must be submitted to the Central Processing System (CPS)
Online tools available on the FAA Access to CPS Online Web site to assist with the verification process
