Subject: Additional Classroom Space - March and April 2009 Live Internet Webinar Sessions on Direct Loan Processing for New Participants (Second Increase)

Summary: This letter announces additional classroom space for Federal Student Aid's instructor-led, online training sessions on Direct Loan processing for new participants that will be presented on March 31, 2009 and April 28, 2009. This is our second increase in classroom space to accommodate the need expressed by the community.

Dear Colleague:

In Dear Colleague Letter ANN-09-02, we announced instructor-led, online training that will focus on Direct Loan processing basics related to origination records, credit checks, electronic promissory notes, disbursements, funding, reconciliation, Direct Loan reports, Direct Loan servicing, resources for borrowers, and resources for schools. This training is geared to individuals on the financial aid staff at schools new to the Direct Loan Program or to individuals at schools that already process Direct Loans but who are new in their positions. We will offer the training six times during the period February through July 2009.

Registration for these online training sessions has been overwhelming and as we communicated in Dear Colleague Letter ANN-09-04, we increased the capacity for the March 31, 2009 and April 28, 2009 sessions at the end of February. Recently, we heard from more individuals who want to participate in this training at this critical time in the processing year. To accommodate the need expressed by the community, we have further increased the capacity for both sessions.

Individuals who previously attempted to register for either the March 31, 2009 or April 28, 2009 session but were unable to do so are welcome to revisit our registration Web site. As a reminder, advance registration is required for this training and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, click on this link:

Reminder: If a trainee changes from one session to another or is unable to attend altogether, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

For complete information about this instructor-led, online training opportunity, including the dates for sessions in May, June, and July 2009, refer to Dear Colleague Letter ANN-09-02.
