This overview is for school financial aid administrators and their staff. The training is intended to provide introductory level information to staff new to Direct Lending, as well as for those who may be interested in learning more about the program Posted on 06-09-2008 Dear Colleague: We are pleased to announce our online, instructor-led training on Direct Loan Program Overview for school financial aid administrators and their staff. This one hour and thirty minute session will be offered on June 16 and July 11, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Central Time. The Direct Loan Program Overview training session is intended to provide introductory level information to staff new to the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program, as well as for those who may be interested in learning more about the program. This overview will cover the roles of each participant in the Direct Loan program: schools, students and FSA. The basic steps involved in the Direct Lending process will be covered: loan origination; Master Promissory Note processing, funding and disbursement, monthly reconciliation and year-end closeout. The various options available to schools in each step of the process will be covered. Borrower benefits and the resources and support available to both schools and students will also be discussed. This training will be conducted using Federal Student Aid's distance education software, which allows you to participate without leaving your desk. Registration is required for this training.
