Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's 2007-08 online, instructor-led training sessions on Improving Direct Loan Processing. This intermediate level class will focus on improving processing and resolving issues with Direct Loans using Federal Student Aid's Direct Loan Electronic Master Promissory Note, Common Origination and Disbursement, and Direct Loan Servicing Online Web sites. In addition, we will provide a brief overview of the Direct Loan Tools software.

Dear Partner:

We are pleased to announce our 2007-08 online, instructor-led training on Improving Direct Loan Processing. This one hour and thirty minute session will be offered three times-once each day on October 2, 3, and 4, 2007.

This class is for participants in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program who are intermediate level users of Federal Student Aid's Web sites. The class will focus on improving processing and resolving issues with Direct Loans using Federal Student Aid's Direct Loan Electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), and Direct Loan Servicing Online Web sites. In addition, we will provide a brief overview of the Direct Loan (DL) Tools software. The information presented in the class will assist a school in successfully participating in the Direct Loan Program.

The topics that will be covered are as follows:

  • Processing with the Direct Loan Electronic MPN

  • Researching credit checks

  • Resolving student record issues using batch searches

  • Managing your school’s financial information

  • Choosing Direct Loan and School Account Statement (SAS) options

  • Working with DL Tools

  • Retrieving reports from the COD and Direct Loan Servicing Online Web sites

  • Obtaining assistance with Direct Loans

All classes will be conducted using Federal Student Aid's distance education software, which allows you to participate without leaving your desk. You will be provided with a link to the session when you register.

Each training session will be conducted by two Federal Student Aid trainers. Because this is an online session, you will need to have a computer with an Internet connection and a separate phone line to access the audio portion of the training.
