Dear Partner

We are pleased to announce the release of the newly updated edition of FSA COACH. This self-paced online course, written at an introductory level, has been fully updated for the 2006-07 award year and incorporates important information from the Higher Education Reconciliation Act (HERA). The course is available at www.ed.gov/fsacoach.

FSA COACH offers 37 different lessons on FSA program management at a beginner's level and takes about 40 hours to complete in its entirety. The course features live links to other FSA information and products, interactive exercises, review questions, and quizzes that help learners assess their mastery of the course material.

Designed for new financial aid personnel, FSA COACH is the latest of our offerings intended to provide timely information on HERA requirements. Those wanting an in-depth presentation of HERA issues, particularly the new grant programs, may register for the live HERA training workshops now being offered. For more information on these events, please visit http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/training/index.html.

Our other HERA-specific dissemination efforts include:

  • Two live Internet webinars.
  • Forty-two two-hour web training sessions.
  • A special HERA section on our Information for Financial Aid Professionals website at <http://ifap.ed.gov> that includes a growing list of policy guidance, electronic announcements, and frequently asked questions.
  • HERA information, particularly on the two new grant programs, will be featured at our upcoming Federal Student Aid conferences. To register for them, please visit http://fsaconferences.ed.gov/

We welcome your comments on FSA COACH and your suggestions about ways the course might be made even more useful to the financial aid community.

Sincerely,

Kay Jacks
