Dear Colleagues:

The Department of Education is pleased to invite you to an overview of the policy and implementation of the new Higher Education Reconciliation Act. The presentation will be offered via a WEBINAR on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. (ET). We thank the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) for assisting us in hosting this event.

David Bergeron (OPE), Jeff Baker (FSA) and I will present the following to you and answer your questions focused on how the new law impacts institutions and students:

    • An overview of the law and pending regulations
    • Description of the Academic Competitiveness Grants and SMART Grants, including reporting to the Common Origination and Disbursement System
    • Changes to forms, definitions and need analysis and CPS processing
    • Changes to EDexpress, including R2T4
    • Electronic question and answers from the audience

You may register for the WEBINAR through AACRAO's web site:

http://webinar.aacrao.org/hera

System Requirements: Broadband internet connection and computer audio (sound card and speakers). You may test your system to see if it meets the requirements. For questions about the WEBINAR please contact AACRAO at webinar@aacrao.org or call 202-293-9161.

We look forward to your participation in the WEBINAR on June 21, which is one of our venues for keeping the community updated. We are also offering several similar, smaller live Internet sessions that we know have been closed to many of you because of capacity. Please be aware we are in the process of adding seats to those venues as well; so, continue to check IFAP for announcements.

Sincerely,
