SUMMARY: This letter announces training for EDExpress Pell Grant Processing, 2003-04.
Dear Partner:
FSA University invites you to attend training for 2003-04 EDExpress Pell Grant Processing. In the ‘03-04 award year, Pell Grant data entered through EDExpress will be transmitted to the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System in the Common Record format. All ‘03-04 EDExpress users will be full participants in the COD system. This training will teach participants to use new functionalities within EDExpress to better manage their Pell Grant data and enhance their current business processes.
For users of the Direct Loan module of EDExpress, check the registration system for Direct Loan workshops offered back-to-back with the Pell workshops.
Who should attend?
The workshop is an intermediate-level program for users who have a basic understanding of student aid regulations and who have experience using EDExpress to process Pell data. For those lacking this experience, we strongly recommend they complete the EDExpress Basics web-based training as a foundation for attending this workshop. The web-based training can be accessed at http://fsa4schools.ed.gov/edexpressbasics/
What will the workshops cover?
Each session covers changes and enhancements to the ‘03-04 EDExpress software, and provides tools for processing and managing Pell Grant data as full participants in the COD system. The format includes some lecture, and emphasizes software demonstration and interactive learning tools.Participants will learn to:
- Understand the concept and practice of operating as a full participant school in the COD system.
- Understand the concept and functionality of an institution's Entity ID.
- Recognize and use the enhancements in the expanded Pell setup screen.
- Recognize new fields and import functionality when importing ISIRs.
- Identify changes to the origination, disbursement, and import/export processes in order to re-evaluate and enhance your school's business practices.
- Effectively manage Pell Grant data using queries and reports.
When, where and how long are the workshops
We will offer 40 workshops nationwide from May 5 through July 31, 2003 at Department of Education Regional Training Facilities and selected school locations.
Each one-day session will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end by 4:00 p.m.
How do I register?
Workshops have limited seating and registration is first-come, first-served. Training sites will be equipped with PCs though class size may require two participants to share a PC. If you register and then are unable to attend, please cancel so that someone else may take your place. If FSA University changes or cancels a workshop, you will be notified by email.
If you are a first-time user of our registration system, we suggest you take a few minutes to review the user instructions. They are available on the FSA University home page, on the login page and at other locations within the system. You may view the automated Registration Demo or read “Instructions on how to register,” which offers written directions illustrated with screen shots.
Cancellation policy: A workshop may be cancelled five business days prior to the workshop date if too few people are registered at that time. You will be notified by email if a workshop is cancelled.
