Dear Partner:

On behalf of the office of Student Financial Assistance (SFA), U. S. Department of Education, I want to invite you to attend one of our three Electronic Access Conferences offered in 2000. These conferences, entitled “Get Connected” will be held at the Hyatt Regency, Dallas, Texas, November 13-15; the Hyatt Regency, Atlanta, Georgia, November 28-30; and the Hyatt Regency, Phoenix, Arizona, December 12-14. (Please note the date change for the Phoenix conference previously announced as Dec 11-13.)

We have an ambitious agenda to provide you with great learning opportunities. There are more than 50 sessions on SFA’s electronic products, services, and Title IV delivery. We will offer most sessions more than once. We will provide a variety of sessions for beginners, advanced or technical users. You will also want to take advantage of the hands-on sessions and the PC Lab where you can use actual SFA software and visit SFA web sites. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience first hand all the new SFA initiatives. There is no registration fee.

Conferees will learn more about SFA's re-engineering of the origination and disbursement processes for Direct Loan, Pell and Campus Based programs. Also featured will be the new school portal and system enhancements for the 2001-2002 application processing year including

- Central Processing System (CPS)
- Title IV Wide Area Network (TIV WAN)
- Direct Loan Origination and Direct Loan Servicing
- Grant Administration and Payment System (GAPS)
- Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Website
- Campus Based FISAP
- National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)
- Recipient and Financial Management System (RFMS)

We will also tell you about -
- Web Services for Schools & Students
- Loan Consolidation
- EDExpress Changes and Technical Specification Changes
- Mainframe Transmission and Processing
- Regulatory Updates

Visit the conference web site directly
http://edeworkshop.walcoff.com or through IFAP http://ifap.ed.gov/csb_html/confdate.htm for all the latest conference information. Once there you will find detailed session information and agenda. You may register for the conference online. You also have the option to download a registration form and fax your registration. We encourage your immediate response, as attendance is limited for each conference. If you have questions regarding the registration process, please call Lynn Mikelatis at (703) 218-1422, or send an email to lmikelat@walcoff.com.

We have reserved a block of rooms at each conference location at special conference room rates. You can either contact the hotel directly to reserve a room or book your room online. You can find hotel room rates, telephone numbers and addresses as well as other information about reserving your hotel room on the conference web site. These conferences generate in excess of 1,000 participants per conference so be sure to make your hotel reservation early as the special conference rate rooms sell out quickly. Discounted travel to the conference sites has been arranged with American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines. You can find additional travel information and suggestions for getting to and from the hotel on the web site.

I hope to see you at one of the conferences. Please join us. Get to know the SFA staff, get involved in future initiatives, and make suggestions for future enhancements to SFA’s software.

Sincerely,

Greg Woods
