SUMMARY: This letter announces a conference for Third Party Servicers and Software Providers sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education August 26 – 27 in Arlington, Virginia.

Dear Partner:

We invite you to attend a conference for Third Party Servicers and Software Providers on August 26 and 27 in Arlington, Virginia. This letter describes the conference and tells you how to register.

Why you should attend the conference

The conference will give you the latest information available about changes and updates to our systems. You need this information to develop your systems. You will also have an opportunity to give us your thoughts about future directions we should explore. This conference is free—there is no registration fee.

What the conference will cover

We have developed an ambitious agenda that will update you on our modernization blueprint and all of our system enhancements for the 2000-2001 academic year, including—

* CPS and Title IV WAN,
* Direct Loan Origination,
* National Student Loan Data System, and
* Direct Loan Servicing and Central Database.

We also plan to brief you on—

* EDE and Direct Loan Technical Specification Changes and Updates,
* SFA (Student Financial Assistance) Tech Support,
* SAM (Student Account Manager),
* Campus-based FISAP,
* GAPS (Grant Administration and Payment System),
* The new Student Aid Internet Gateway,
* An overview of the Pell Grant program and changes to the RFMS, and
* System testing issues associated with Year 2000 compliance.


Finally, we plan to engage you in a strategy session covering—

* Building Stronger Relationships/Partnering for Mutual Benefit and
* Future initiatives and strategies.

Where we will hold the conference

We will begin at 8:30 a.m. on August 26 and end at 4:30 p.m. on August 27. We will hold the conference at:
