Dear Colleague, We have added an automated system to our toll-free line that will allow callers to check the processing status of their student aid applications or corrections. Applicants can also use this automated system to request duplicate copies of the Student Aid Report. To use the system, the caller must have a touch-tone phone. Simply dial 1-800-4 FED AID (1-800-433-3243) and press #1 to select this feature. Then the student should follow the instructions to enter his or her Social Security Number and other identifiers. Please note that the application database requires the first two letters of the student's last name as identifiers. The system instructs callers how to enter these letters using their telephone keypad. Since we are able to make this service available on our toll-free line, we believe it will be of great interest to many of your students and hope that you will be able to help us to publicize this new service to them. We are exploring the expansion of the toll-free number. In the meantime, if a student does not want to use the automated system or has a rotary phone, he or she must call the same number for status checks (1-319-337-5665) as in the past.
