Dear Colleague:


I am pleased to announce a videoconference to be presented on October 15, 1998, from 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. Eastern time. The title of the videoconference is "Beyond 1999: The New FAFSA and Delivery System Updates."

This videoconference, presented free of charge to all postsecondary institutions by the U. S. Department of Education, will feature an overview of the changes to the l999-2000 application processing system and ED's latest electronic requirements and initiatives. Topics to be covered include: the new 1999-2000 paper FAFSA; FAFSA on the Web and Renewal FAFSA on the Web; EDExpress updates; the new Pell Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS); and our plans to increase use of the Internet.

The videoconference will be interactive, offering participants the opportunity to use a toll-free number or FAX to ask their questions. Schools are permitted to record this videoconference for their own use.

The October 15 videoconference will be broadcast at the following time:

Eastern: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Central: 12 noon to 2:00 pm
Mountain: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Pacific: 10:00 am to 12 noon

The October 15 videoconference will be broadcast on the following satellites:

KU Band Satellite:
SBS 6 (74 degrees west), Transponder 9,
Horizontal downlink frequency 11921 mhz.
Audio at 6.2 and 6.8

C Band Satellite:
Spacenet 3 (83 degrees west), Transponder 3, Channel 5
Horizontal downlink frequency 3800 mhz.
Audio at 6.2 and 6.8

If you wish to register as a host (receiving) site for the videoconference, please complete the attached Remote (Receiving) Site Response Form.
Be sure to include the specific address of the building where the videoconference will be viewed.

We will post on our Information for Financial Aid Professionals web site (ifap.ed.gov) a list of host sites, with names, addresses and phone numbers. If your school is not receiving the videoconference, you can use this information to locate the host site nearest you. If you wish to travel to a host site please notify that site's coordinator that you plan to attend.

If you are unable to participate in the live videoconference, you may borrow a videotaped copy from the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) at 1-800-433-3243 two weeks after the videoconference. You may duplicate the tape if you wish before returning it to the FSAIC.
