Action Letter #9 August 1997 SUMMARY: This letter announces three U.S. Department of Education conferences entitled, A Second Decade of Partnership Through Electronics to be held in St. Paul, MN November 4-6; Seattle, WA November 17-19; and Boston, MA December 16-18. Dear Colleague: The U. S. Department of Education (ED) cordially invites you to attend the A Second Decade of Partnership Through Electronics conference. Three conferences will be held this fall in St. Paul, MN; Seattle, WA; and Boston, MA. These conferences will offer participants an opportunity to learn more about and provide comments on the Departments electronic Title IV application systems. More than 40 concurrent sessions will be offered throughout the conference. Special tracks will be offered for beginners, advanced users and technical topics. The agenda will be identical for all conferences. Some of the major presentations and discussion topics will include: Whats New for 1998-99 Online Query: The Benefits to Your Institution NSLDS Overview Delivery System Update FAFSA on the Web Policy Issues & Changes including Reauthorization Single Identifier Initiative EDconnect for Windows Pell Payment SSCR Processing: Start to Finish Direct Loans A general session will begin the first day at 8:30 am and will include addresses by Jerry Russomano, Jeanne Saunders and other ED staff. The conferences will end at 4:15 pm on the third day. The registration desk will be open from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm the day prior to the conference as well as all day on the first day of the conference. An EDE Conference Registration web page has been created (http://edeworkshop.walcoff.com) for easier registration and access to current conference information. You can register via the Internet web page or by completing the enclosed registration form. The web page contains all pertinent conference information and will be updated regularly to include the latest agenda and session listings. All registrations should be completed for each conference by the following dates: St. Paul, MN - October 2, 1997; Seattle, WA - October 15,1997 and Boston, MA - November 14, 1997. Within 3 business days, you will be able to confirm your registration via the above web page. You will also be able to perform a search to look up other conference registrants. There are no registration fees for these workshops. We encourage your immediate response as attendance is limited for each conference. All registration confirmations will be listed on the web page within 3 working days of receipt of your registration form.
