Videoconference

Dear Colleague:

The U.S. Department of Education, NSLDS Division is pleased to
announce a videoconference entitled "SSCR: The New Wave
Process." The videoconference will be held on October 19, 1995
from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Eastern time.

This videoconference will contain information pertinent to
Registrars and Financial Aid Administrators as well as any other
office involved in processing Student Status Confirmation Reports
(SSCRs). Presented free of charge by the U.S. Department of
Education, this videoconference will focus on the various aspects of
the new automated SSCR processing. This includes creating and
processing SSCR data; school and school servicer requirements and
responsibilities; the transmission process; and an action plan and
implementation calendar for the school.

The videoconference will be presented by a team of Department of
Education, contractor and school staff. It will be interactive,
offering participants the opportunity to use a toll-free phone or FAX
number to question the panel of presenters. Schools are permitted to
record this videoconference for their own use.

The October 19 videoconference will be broadcast on the following
satellites:

- KU Band - SBS - 6 (95 degrees West) Transponder 3,
Horizontal Downlink Frequency 11774 Mhz. Audio at 6.2
and 6.8

- C Band - Telstar 401 (97 degrees West) Transponder 16
Horizontal Downlink Frequency 4020 Mhz. Audio at 6.2
and 6.8

Enclosed is a form to register for the videoconference. If you wish
to register as a host (receiving) site, please include the specific
address of the building in which the videoconference will be
received.

By mid September we will provide Financial Aid Administrators
with a list of host sites by way of the Postsecondary Education
Network (PEN) and the SFA Bulletin Board. If you are unable to
access the remote site information electronically, please call the
Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4FEDAID for
information about the host site nearest you. Individuals wishing to
travel to a host site should contact that site's coordinator to indicate
that they will attend. Members of the American Association of
Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) may
consult future issues of the Data Dispenser and NetNews. Registrars
may also locate information on the AACRAO gopher and on
Regist-L listserve.

If you are unable to view the videoconference live, you may borrow a
copy of it on videotape. Call 1-800-4FEDAID (toll-free) one week
following the videoconference to borrow a tape.
