Information about students shows up in new and unexpected places, as our electronic world grows smaller. The data a student completed this year on the FAFSA built the loan record, and the loan record built the student's consumer debt record and the NSLDS record. We offer a holistic look at the flow of data and explore who shares data and why, from the initial FAFSA document, thorough the school and lending processes and beyond to the world of the average consumer. A good primer for the new aid officer, it is also a great refresher course for anyone who wants to know how the electronic puzzle fits together.
