Subject: Gainful Employment Electronic Announcement #83 - How to Submit Supporting Documentation for Draft Completers List Corrections

As previously announced in Electronic Announcement #78, institutions submitting requests for corrections to their draft GE Completers List must maintain acceptable documentation to support their requests. The chart attached to Electronic Announcement #78 provides examples of acceptable documentation. When reviewing corrections submitted by institutions, the Department may request that the institution submit some or all of its documentation to substantiate its requested corrections. It is important that institutions not submit documentation unless they have received a request from the Department. Also, institutions should only submit documentation for the students or programs that are requested by the Department.

As discussed in the webinar on Submitting GE Completers List Corrections, institutions receiving Departmental requests for documentation will have three business days to submit the requested supporting documentation to the Department.

Requested documentation must be saved and encrypted in a specific format, as described in the attachment to this announcement. This will ensure that students’ Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is protected and that the Department can easily identify the documents that support each correction request. The attachment provides instructions on how to properly save and encrypt the documentation before submitting to the Department. Information not submitted in the required format will result in an automatic denial of the correction request and could result in a referral to the Department’s Program Compliance office for a violation of the security and confidentiality of student information.

The Gainful Employment Information Page on the IFAP web site includes important GE publications, resources, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). If you have a question about required documentation for the Draft Completers List corrections process, please submit them to GE.Operations@ed.gov. If you have a question about the GE regulations that has not been addressed in the FAQ section of the Gainful Employment Information Page, please submit the question to ge-questions@ed.gov.
